		When Inxs would complete their 1997 album, "Elegantly Wasted" no one would expect that this would be essentially the final studio album by the Australian Band.
		While "Elegantly Wasted" is a good album, it unfortunately isn't the album that would be that super comeback album.
		Elegantly Wasted is truly one of the best albums INXS put out, easily their best since Kick.

		Elegantly Wasted is, in my opinion, almost worse than Full Moon, Dirty Hearts.
		There are the gems Show Me (Cherry Baby) and Elegantly Wasted, the title track, but the album quickly runs out of gas, runs together, and seems uniformly tepid, like lukewarm water.
		The music on Elegantly Wasted doesn't sound like the music they recorded for Kick, but the album is still unmistakably INXS.

		[Editor's note: A reader provides this information: In the song Elegantly Wasted by INXS, the words elegantly wasted are often heard as "Better then Oasis", however both are actually correct.
		The story goes that the lead singer of INXS and Bono from U2 were at a pub, when joined by Oasis frontman Leium Gallagher, who apparently started an altercation with the INXS and U2 singers.
		The subsequent day, INXS lead singer Michael Hutchence was to re-record the chorus of the song Elegantly Wasted, his band recorded the song according to the lyrics and went out for their break.

		Their label move is an important one to note, as since joining up with Mercury, INXS has either suddenly had some major surges in their creativity or else they've been holding out on us for the past five years.
		On the whole, Elegantly Wasted is the best thing the band has put out since Welcome to Wherever You Are, but considering since 1993, the band has only released one studio album, flaunting the fact that the best thing they've done in years really isn't that big of a deal.
		INXS always evenly balances its albums with a nice blend of rocking tunes that are primed for a loud club, and the plodding ballad or two.

		When I heard, in 1997, that the INXS new album was called Elegantly Wasted I was a bit miffed.
		To me, that phrase was so deeply connected with Keith Richards I couldn’t forgive this upstart Australian band for using it.
		When Michael Hutchence committed suicide in November of that year I started to think the term might apply to Michael as much as it did to Keith.
