Bio: Deep Purple bassist Roger Glover was born November 30, 1945, in Brecon, South Wales, earning his musical education from the area bands that played his family's pub.
Glover's first solo LP, Elements, followed in the spring of 1978 and later that year, he reunited with Blackmore in Rainbow.
Glover's departure was brief and he returned to Deep Purple in 1990 for Slaves and Masters, with Gillan returning to the fold a few years later for The Battle Rages On, the last album that would contain the classic '70s line up.

The album was laid down just a few weeks after Deep Purple Mk 4 had played their final concert in Liverpool, with the members of the band all contemplating solo careers of one sort or another.
Roger and Deep Purple I had toured with both in Europe and the UK though the Butterfly Ball was to be our first venture in the studio.
The album can't exactly be described as a family album but then again it's not anything in the mould of Deep Purple." Despite leaving his name off the front, the album was quickly labelled a Roger Glover solo project, even though the music was written as a commission rather than as a purely personal work.

Roger produced some Nazareth albums (I don't know if he produced "Loud n' Proud" though) so this might be the Nazareth album.
The album was available together with his solo album "Elements" on the same CD but that disc was taken off the markets a couple of years ago.

He also released two of his solo albums, Butterfly Ball in 1974, and Elements in 1978, before rejoining his Deep Purple bandmate, Ritchie Blackmore, in the band Rainbow, where he worked on five of the band's albums.

It’s a funny old world out there: a label asks your advice, you recommend a classic album dying to appear on CD and offer to do it, they say they can’t license it, then they get it and put it out without telling you, so you end up having to buy it.
Back in 1984, between Rainbow’s dying throws and the Deep Purple reformation, bassist Roger Glover issued what was effectively his third solo album (the previous two being Elements and The Butterfly Ball).
Roger’s vocal’s are good and suit the music world, but they’re a far cry from the likes of Gillan - they do sound weak compared to the best but fit the poppier end well.

Roger Glover : Elements - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
Former Deep Purple bassist Roger Glover's first true solo album is an ambitious concept built around the properties and powers of the four elements -- earth, wind, water, and fire -- with the four principle tracks dedicated to each one in turn.
Rather, the Wagnerian scope of the music, and the immensity of the orchestra itself, are both wholly ingested into Glover's traditional knack for writing well-arranged, dynamic pop/prog rock.
To dwell on such reference points, however, is to wholly overlook the sheer originality, excitement, and overall exuberance that is the hallmark of Elements.

Initially, this line-up released a landmark album in Concerto for Group and Orchestra, a three-part movement written by Lord and performed at the Royal Albert Hall with the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Malcolm Arnold.
In October of 2005, the band's 37th year, Purple released the progressive and adventurous album Rapture of the Deep, considered to be the group's strongest effort since Purpendicular, accompanied by yet another extensive world tour.

Their later albums offered a more polished sound, but the simplicity of Let There Be Rock adds to its appeal, and of the AC/DC albums we've heard we think this is among their strongest output.
The material is very album oriented rock in that the songs flow from track to track such as “Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon“ that perfectly ties together the songs before and after it.
The live versions are strong and this album is an inexpensive substitution for their early albums for casual fans or those on a budget.

 Roger Glover. 1973-2006 History
When Roger Glover learned that he was due to be removed from Deep Purple, he reacted by handing in his resignation, leaving (along with singer Ian Gillan) after a show in Osaka on June 29th 1973, and bringing to an end the most successful period in Deep Purple’s history.
Glover was then asked to produce the first Ian Gillan Band album ‘Child In Time’ and almost joined the band but decided against it (although he stayed long enough to make one German TV appearance with them in late 1975).
Roger also worked on a joint project with Ian Gillan, 1988’s “Accidentally On Purpose”, a record which many felt had a lot of commercial potential, but which Deep Purple’s work-load prevented them exploiting.

In addition to the 'Butterfly Ball' project, Glover also made major contributions to EDDIE HARDIN's concept album 'The Wizard's Convention' released in December 1976 before another solo effort, 'Elements', based on a Glover poem, was released in 1978.
Based loosely on the four earth elements, and originally to be titled 'The Eyes Of Omega', the album was more in line with atmospheric filmscore music than Rock although 'Elements' featured contributions from DEEP PURPLE's David Coverdale and ELF keyboard player Mickey Lee Soule.
Following this project Glover finally succumbed to the overtures being made to him by his former DEEP PURPLE colleague guitarist RITCHIE BLACKMORE by joining RAINBOW in time to record and produce the successful 'Down To Earth'.

In 1963 Roger went on to Hornsey College of Art but kept in touch with his friends, who decided to merge with members of another school band The Lightnings, and they became Episode Six in early 1964.
