Yelena Berezhnaya - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Elena Berezhnaya (born October 11, 1977 in Nevinnomirsk, Russia) is a Russian figure skater.
Berezhnaya has competed in three Winter Olympics: in 1994, representing Latvia with Oleg Shliahov and, in 1998 and 2002, representing Russia with Anton Sikharulidze.
The decision to award the gold medal in 2002 was the subject of a hugely-publicised controversy, which was finally resolved by the awarding of an additional gold to the Canadian pair that had originally been given the silver.

Berezhnaya’s scars now are covered by her pixie-ish cap of blond hair, and she is reportedly loath to show them to strangers.
