Elena Aleksandrovna Valova (Russian: Елена Александровна Валова) (born January 4, 1963) is an Olympic and world pairs figure skating champion.
Valova was born in Leningrad, Russia, to parents Alla Borisovna Valova and Aleksander Dmitrievich Valov.
Valova is now remarried to German Galush and has a son, Roman, born in 1996.

I think it is that they are calling her Elena and not Yelena.
Elena Berezhnaya is the "shared" pairs gold medalist from Salt Lake City.
In fact, in skating, Irina, Elena, and Ekaterina/Katya are three very well known and often heard names.

The Master Cup was the final half of the $500,000 1997 U.S. Open Professional Figure Skating Championships held at the Crown.
The pairs team of Elena Leonova and Andrei Khvalko of Russia, who had to qualify for the Master Cup on Friday, dazzled the crowd to take first place with 276 points.
