	Eleanor of Arborea - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Eleanor, or Eleonor, of Arborea (1347–1404) was a Sardinian giudicessa (ruler or judge) and the island's greatest heroine.
		For the next four years Arborea was at war with Aragon, which lost much of its possessions to Eleanor and was trying to reclaim the island, as the Aragonese king James II had a century earlier been promised its lordship by the Pope.
		Mariano died in 1376 and was succeeded by his son Ugone (Hugh of Arborea).

		Eleonora D'Arborea è la più significativa delle figure femminili della storia italiana tanto da ispirare per secoli la fioritura di numerose leggende sulla sua vita e sul suo operato ed è stata paragonata alla Giovanna d'Arco francese.
		Figlia di Mariano IV e sposa del genovese Brancaleone d'Oria, fu giudicessa d'Arborea dal 1383 sino alla sua morte nel 1404.
		Nonostante i risultati poco rilevanti di questa opera unificatrice la sua fama è legata alla "Carta de Logu" un codice delle leggi del giudicato, scritto in lingua sarda, ed esteso poi a tutta la Sardegna.
