Sommer was a singer/songwriter (he wrote all the tunes on his album) who had also acted in the Broadway musical Hair (as "Woof"), and had a small part in the movie Ironweed.

He returned to Buddah for his subsequent recordings, as the Eleuthera label folded in 1971 and the Linhart album was reissued that same year on Buddah as part of a two-LP set (bundled with an album he had recorded for Philips Records previously).
