  St. Eleutherios
Eleutherios was born in Rome in the second century AD.
With a desire to serve the Saviour that was as profound as his learning, Eleutherios embarked on a meteoric career as a man of the cloth, acquiring before he was twelve the equivalent of a college education and with such impressive credentials was tonsured a reader at the age of thirteen.
He was easily forgiven by Eleutherios, who thereafter instructed the centurion to return him to the prefect lest judgment be passed on both of them.

St Eleutherios was an early bishop of Avlona in Illyris, present day Albania, and was martyred in the reign of the Roman Emperor Hadrian (probably around 120 A.D.).
This was in the fifth century and the church dominated the Xerolophos district of Constantinople.
St Eleutherios of Avlona is not to be confused with the Byzantine St Eleutherios or a number of other saints bearing the same name.

He also says that this activity can be gone beyond by communing with the egoless personal presence of truth and perfect happiness, which he freely states is his constant, conscious condition, moment to moment.
He claims that this condition is who he is. I am struck not only by the penetrating clarity of Adi Da's teaching in Eleutherios, but by the fact that reading it gracefully reflected to me the ways in which I generate my own feelings of separateness and the ways I dramatize them.
Eleutherios is life founded in relationship with the Divine.

In Eleutherios, Adi Da Samraj reveals that the feeling of being a separate self is the root-cause of suffering individually and collectively.
In one of the last essays in the book he calls the leaders of the world to examine themselves in the light of his teachings in the areas of social, political, and economic activities so that we might begin to grow beyond our terrible separative, egoic and collectively destructive tendencies.
I have now read all five of the Heart of Adidam titles (the epitome of Adi Da's 23 source texts, which are to be published over the next year), of which Eleutherios is the last.

Eleutherios Venizelos, the foxy statesman who upset the Greek Royal House and whose first name means "Liberty," was back in the Cabinet saddle at Athens last week.
Proverbially fickle, his countrymen seemed not displeased although only a month ago he described himself to the Greek Parliament as so unpopular that "two editors have actually gone so far as to advocate my murder and appeal for someone to carry it out" (TIME, May 30).
