  Geography - LoveToKnow 1911
Geography is a synthetic science, dependent for the data with which it deals on the results of specialized sciences such as astronomy, geology, oceanography, meteorology, biology and anthropology, as well as on topographical description.
General geography was divided into - (I) the Absolute part, dealing with the form, dimensions, position and substance of the earth, the distribution of land and water, mountains, woods and deserts, hydrography (including all the waters of the earth) and the atmosphere; (2) the Relative part, including the celestial properties, i.e.
Kant's lectures on physical geography were delivered in the university of Konigsberg from 1765 onwards.' Geography appealed to him as a valuable educational discipline, the joint foundation with anthropology of that " knowledge of the world " which was the result of reason and experience.

Abstracts of papers by Geography Department faculty, California State University, Long Beach
The accuracy of the computer's representation of elevation, slope and aspect is a function of (a) DEM grid resolution, (b) topographic complexity, and (c) the algorithms utilized by the GIS to compute slope and aspect.
Researchers often interpolate their own digital elevation models (DEMs) for areas not covered by existing DEMs or in situations where the DEM must be of higher accuracy or more detailed resolution than existing data.
The effect of DEM scale was investigated in the context of DEM uncertainty in elevation and hydrologic parameters frequently derived from DEMs (slope, upslope contributing area and the topographic index).

Geography of Virginia: "Elevation Profile of Virginia"
This is a description of a project in which an elevation profile (topographic profile) of Virginia was constructed along a transect line from the Atlantic Ocean to the western edge of the state along the Kentucky border.
The line was then drawn on a standard USGS topographic map of the state at a scale of 1:500,000 and on the corresponding pages in the 1989 DeLorme Virginia Atlas and Gazetteer at a scale of 1:150,000.
It is marked on the elevation profile as the Tennessee Valley Divide because it separates that river's drainage from drainage of the Ohio River.
