Topic: Elevator (album)

  Bucket Elevator
Newton Conveyors' Bucket Elevators offer a practical, efficient and economical means of elevating a wide variety of dry and free flowing bulk materials.
Typical elevators consist of a series of buckets mounted on chain or belt and enclosed in steel casings.
Since bucket elevators are generally fully enclosed, they are ideally suited for either indoor or outdoor applications.

Elevator (album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Elevator is Hot Hot Heat's second album, released on April 4, 2005 (see 2005 in music) internationally and a day later in the United States.
On the back of the album cover where the list of tracks of the album is, it does not list track 13, listing 12 then 14.
The reason for this is most likely because of superstition that some elevators do not have a button for the 13th story of the building.

Elevator - A Taste of Complete Perspective (Teenage USA)
On an Eric's Trip album you could always count on hearing everything from the loudest Stooge-like barrages, to the quietest songs played on acoustic guitar, and always woven seamlessly together in a white noise collage of tape hiss and found sounds.
An example of Elevator's use of layers to tamper with the listener's perception is "I'm a Radio Station." Maybe the highlight of the album, this is a light, pretty, upbeat pop song.
The album is full of such juxtapositions, which, when done right, add strange new dimensions to the stock sounds of pop music and the feelings automatically associated with those sounds.

Elevator, the second full-length by Vancouver, Canada's Hot Hot Heat, is a neat reminder of how the land has shifted in alternative rock in the last couple of years.
Although the band still draw on the samenew-wave blueprint of their first two albums, there is a new found maturity in both scope and approach this time around, with acoustic guitars being added to the mix.
Elevator is an uplifting, incredibly well written album, especially for such a young band.

Hot Hot Heat : Elevator - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
That album was also a model of economy, packing a huge amount of ideas and energy into a svelte 10-song tracklisting.
Elevator, Hot Hot Heat's Sire Records debut, is also pretty speedy, burning through 15 tracks in just under 38 minutes, but its fast pace doesn't hide the fact that its songs just aren't as interesting as they could be (and especially in comparison to Make Up the Breakdown).
Elevator improves on its second half, where a string of moody, almost-ballads like "Middle of Nowhere," "Dirty Mouth," "Soldier in a Box" and the title track bring some much-needed edge and focus, though it comes almost too late.

Hot Hot Heat -- “Elevator” (printable version)
Perhaps “Elevator” is not the sound of a band selling out, but a band that is much tighter than it was in 2002.
“Elevator” proves the songwriting period from then to now was fruitful.
Some of the lyrics belie that sing-songy tone of the album, like the farewell to an annoying girlfriend in “Goodnight Goodnight,” but the tight, infectious melodies are hard to resist, except maybe for those who can’t stand to see their favorite pet bands sell a few records.

Elevator is able to maintain MTB’s electricity through several songs, although the freshness dies toward the latter half of the album.
First, MTB was an album considerably more creative from all angles, making sure every song rocked harder, newer and fresher every step of the way.
Still, Elevator serves as an excellent introduction to HHH and their indie-garage band mix of music, where many bands have failed.

My view: 'Elevator' by Hot Hot Heat - The Honolulu Advertiser - Hawaii's Newspaper
The album never spawned a hit but it had all the ingredients to make one; it oozed the potential to become a smash hit, as did the band overall.
Fortunately, that spark came in the form of "Goodnight Goodnight," the single from the group's latest album, "Elevator." The song received high rotation on radio across the country.
With 15 tracks in a brisk 38 minutes, "Elevator" is a quick, fun listen, although a slight disappointment to older Hot Hot Heat fans.

Elevator | The Onion - America's Finest News Source
There's nothing inherently wrong with the album-opening trio "Running Out Of Time," "Goodnight Goodnight," and "Ladies And Gentlemen," except that their frenetic energy and booming choruses come off as a little overbearing, like they're meant to be chopped up for commercials, not heard all together.
But then comes "You Owe Me An IOU," a circular strutter that kicks off with singer Steve Bays yelping, "He was in the habit / Of taking things for granted / Granted / There wasn't much for him to take," and builds to a chorus that crunches like peanut brittle.

The Canadian band’s second album ELEVATOR will sound familiar to those who picked up their debut — recent single MIDDLE OF NOWHERE is a good representation of the record as a whole.
Jaunty guitars, upbeat rhythms and flashes of keyboard are sure to put a smile on the face of even the most jaded of listeners, and songs like the Clash-sounding PICKIN’ IT UP may even get them onto the dance floor.

 Hot Hot Heat - Elevator - Album reviews - Music - Virgin.net
Following their debut, Make Up The Breakdown, with an "if it ain't broke don't fix it" attitude, Hot Hot Heat's new album is another trawl through post-punk chirpiness, with plenty of upbeat jangly guitars, perky staccato rhythms and danceable tunes throughout.
Frontman Steve Bays' squawky vocal delivery still has that love it/hate it Kevin Rowland (Dexy's Midnight Runners) feel to it, especially on Goodnight Goodnight, but this is not a distraction, instead his disjointed voice perfectly complements the jerky music he and the other Heats' bring together.
If you were tiring of the slightly bland accomplishments of the likes of fellow US bands The Bravery and The Killers, Hot Hot Heat appear to be continuing to fly the flag for a style of offbeat indie pop that is brave enough to buck a few trends along the way.
