The name 'Elim' was taken from the book of Exodus where the Israelites exhausted and dispirited en route from Egypt's cruel bondage to the freedom of Canaan came to Elim an oasis in the desert where there were twelve wells of water and seventy palm trees.
Elim continued to grow despite the ravages of World War two and other difficulties and soon established itself as a Pentecostal power in the evangelisation of the United Kingdom.
Elim churches combine strong Bible-based teaching with a dependence on the anointing of the Holy Spirit to fulfil its mandate of evangelism and the strengthening of its churches.

The Elim Pentecostal Church (EPC) is a U.K.-based Pentecostal Christian denomination (not to be confused with the U.S.-based Elim Fellowship).
The church was brought together as the Elim Evangelistic Band, but was changed to Elim Foursquare Gospel Alliance when the name was registered with the government in April 1934.
Elim became a founding member of the Pentecostal Churches of the United Kingdom in 1998.

 Good News Assembly, London. An Elim Pentecostal Church.
From a house fellowship which originally started in the home of Pastor Joshua Jama and his wife Toyin in 1989 whilst attending Kensington Temple (an Elim Pentecostal Church) in London, this church was born.
With the growing number, the church was started officially in Hackney, East London in August 1991 along with a counselling and advisory centre to reach out to the homeless, unemployed and the needy people of the that area - thus the name Sanctuary Church.
In 1996, to cater for the growing needs of the church, a two story building was acquired at Bethnal Green, London and the name was later changed to Good News Assembly in September 1998.
