Comment: As with the Goal, the concepts that Goldratt uses to proselytize are a subtle mix of concepts that are on the border of being completely natural to the reader.
This is not to say that the concepts that Goldratt brings forth aren't interesting, valid or usefull (especially when effectively tied to other management concepts), but it is to say that you won't get anything useful out of this book, aside from a desire to attend one of his seminars.
It is true that Goldratt's ideas could be stated in twenty pages or so, but he is very wise and intentional in not giving away the answers.

Nevertheless, I came away from the book feeling that Goldratt knew his theory would only run about twenty pages of text if written in plain layman form and decided to turn it into a 340 page novel in order to have enough pages to get a publishing deal.
I also felt that Goldratt's followup at the end of the book ("My Saga") seems to be written merely as a defensive explanation as to why his theory failed to work in some cases.
Ultimately, in trying to ease concerns about failures with the system, Goldratt leaves the reader with a feeling that perhaps his theory is not worth the trouble implementing.
