The title of Baron de Ros (pronounced "Roose") is the most ancient baronial title in the Peerage of England.
The title was originally held by the de Ros family until the death of the eleventh Baron in 1508, when it was inherited by his nephew, Sir George Manners.
Upon the death of Elizabeth's only son, William Cecil, the title returned to the Manners family, being inherited by the sixth Earl of Rutland.

Edward Manners, 3rd Earl of Rutland and 15th Baron de Ros (1548 - April 14, 1587) was the son of Henry Manners, 2nd Earl of Rutland, whose titles he inherited in 1563.
The Earldom of Rutland and Barony of Manners went to his brother John Manners, but the Barony of de Ros went to his daughter.
Countess Isabel, daughter of Sir Thomas Holcroft, KT, wears a ruff with the usual dress of the time under an ermine trimmed mantle, her head supported by a cushion.

There are some difficulties in Dugdale’s account of the Cobham family which it may be well to bring before your readers; especially as several other historians and genealogists have repeated Dugdale’s account without remarking on its inconsistencies.  In speaking of a junior branch of the family, he says, in vol.
It is remarkable that this discrepancy in Sir John Cobham’s age, and the time of his supposed mother’s marriage with his father, has never before, as far as my knowledge extends, been noticed by any of the numerous writers who have repeated Dugdale’s account of this family.
The word “count,” in its second occurrence, was inserted by the printer in the wrong line; when it is restored to its proper place, the passage presents but little difficulty.
