Elizabeth of York - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Elizabeth of York is the only English Queen to have been a wife, daughter, sister, niece and mother to English Kings.
Elizabeth died of a post-pregnancy infection, on her 37th birthday, 9 days after giving birth to her last child, Katherine Tudor, who was born and died on the same day, February 2, 1503.
Elizabeth Woodville arranged to marry her daughter to Tudor if he could overthrow King Richard, which he did at the Battle of Bosworth Field on August 22, 1485, becoming King Henry VII.

 Tudor Herstory: Elizabeth of York
It was petitioned by the House of Lords and the House of Commons that Henry marry Elizabeth, the rightful Yorkish heir, and join the two warring houses.
Born on February 11th 1466, Elizabeth of York was the eldest daughter of King Edward IV (pictured right) and his queen, Elizabeth Woodville.
Weeks later, Elizabeth and her brothers were declared bastards when an act of Parliament stated that the marriage of her parents was invalid, a proposition possibly fabricated by Bishop Robert Stillington in favor of their uncle Richard for the throne.

Britannia Biographies: Elizabeth of York, Queen of England
Elizabeth of York, Queen of Henry VII, the eldest child of Edward IV and Elizabeth Woodville, was born at Westminster.
It might almost be said to be a part of Henry's 'contract with the English people' that he should marry Elizabeth and so unite the rival Houses of York and Lancaster; but he was particularly anxious not to appear to owe his crown to his wife and, therefore, did not marry her until January 1486.
Elizabeth bore to Henry seven children, four of whom lived to adulthood.

But for Elizabeth of York, all the fun of being a royal was squelched at a pretty young age.
Everything changed for Elizabeth of York when she married Henry Tudor in January of 1486.
The marriage of Elizabeth and Henry was planned in order to bring more legitiamacy to Henry's claim to the throne, although by all measures Elizabeth's claim was -- as the eldest surviving heir of Edward IV-- much stonger than her husbands.

 Elizabeth's Journal
Not-so-funny unrelated story: I've been so quiet that when I was filing cds on the shelf I heard someone say "Where's Elizabeth?" and then footsteps, footsteps, then I see Patrick walk into the Annex where the cds are stored, sees me, and he's like, "Oh, there you are!" and then he, uh, walked away.
At first I felt stupid for taking so long to give this band a chance, but on Sunday I was watching New York Noise and they were hosting the show, sort of, and they were all so...
And so continues the "Elizabeth is never gonna cash in her hours if a new intern doesn't show up" saga.
