In their 1st season in the newly formed AL Central the Twins are never factor in the race for 1st place with a record of 53-60, when the strike prematurely ended the season on August 12th.
In the ALDS the Twins faced the New York Yankees and got off to a good start beating the Yankees for the first time in 13 games 3-1 as the Twins bullpen kept the Yankees at bay after Johan Santana was forced to leave the game early due to an injury.
The Twins bullpen would be unable to hold the lead as the Yankees roughed up Juan Rincon for 4 runs in the 8th before winning the game 6-5 in 11 innings to take the series in 4 games for the 2nd straight year.

The elevation at Elizabethton Municipal Airport is 1,593 feet (the highest point of elevation in Carter County is at Roan Mountain with an elevation of 6,285 feet) and the airport is located on the eastern side of the city along State Highway 91 Stoney Creek Exit.

My general apathy towards the Twins started to change late last season when Santana mysteriously came up with a blister and was pushed back so that he would face the Sox twice in September.
The Sox will never harbor the malevolence that the Twins seem to breed in their farm system and clubhouse, but they will always be shooting for more than 'anybody but the Twins.' That's the type of attitude that has you three-and-out in the playoffs.
Of course this assumes the Twins want Torii in 2008, that Torii still wants to be a Twin in 2008, that the Twins can offer a competetive contract compared to what will be the market for Torii in next year's offseason and that Hunter will be healthy this year.
