Elkhart County is a county located in the U.S. state of Indiana.
Elkhart County is located in Northern Indiana, 150 miles north/northeast of Indianapolis, 100 miles east of Chicago and 50 miles northwest of Fort Wayne.
In the county the population was spread out with 28.90% under the age of 18, 9.50% from 18 to 24, 29.80% from 25 to 44, 20.90% from 45 to 64, and 10.90% who were 65 years of age or older.

The Elkhart County Historical Museum is housed in the historic Rush Memorial Center in Bristol, Indiana.
Bierce, who lived in Elkhart briefly during his younger years, was the author of an "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge." The Auditorium seats approximately 350 and is available for rent along with additional meeting rooms.

Organized November 18, 1886.  County seat, Richfield.  Was named in honor of Honorable Oliver P. Morton, of Indiana.
Point of Rocks is a scenic and historic location north of Elkhart looking out over the Cimarron River valley which probably won't have any water in it when you visit.
Richfield used to be the county seat of Morton County and had a two story stone courthouse which was abandoned many years ago.
