 Sadler Ranch, Elko County, Nevada
He was Nevada's third foreign born governor, born in Czarnikau, Posen Province, Prussia on January 10, 1848.
According to family recollection, Nevada governor Reinhold Sadler (whose two story brick home is half a block north of the Colonnade House) used a tunnel to get to his Main Street store in the winter so that he wouldn't have to meet his neighbors on the street.
During this same century, we saw Nevada grow from a collection of mining camps in a world dominated by the railroad and the telegraph, to the tourism and gaming capital of a world dominated by the microchip and the satellite.

 Nevada Northern Railway History
The Nevada Northern Railway, completed in 1906 between the Southern Pacific junction at Cobre in Elko County and East Ely, was from its inception a subsidiary of Nevada Consolidated Copper Company (Nevada Con).
Nevada Con train crews operated the ore trains while management was provided by the Nevada Northern Railway.
The entire Nevada Northern diesel fleet was purchased new from EMD in 1952; it consisted of one unit, SD-7 No. 401.

 VIOLENCE ON THE ELKO ROAD
He had lived in Newark Valley, Nevada for much of his life, had owned Buck's Station, Warm Springs and other ranches in the Valley, and was familiar with the area.
In the spring of 1869 the shortest stage and freight road between Elko and Hamilton was constructed by Gilson and was known as the Gilson Toll Road or Gilson Turnpike.
There was no one present in the house to witness the shooting except the sister of Gilson, and her son, who state that Irwin fired the first shot; but all other accounts agree that he was unarmed.

After moving to Elko County, he became respected and admired for his knowledge of the cattle industry.

 Tuscarora Elko County Nevada Ghost Towns
Tuscarora, destined to be one of the lengendary towns of Nevada, had humble beginnings and took almost 10 years to become a populus town.
By the summer of 1877, Tuscarora had a population of 3,000 and was rivalling Elko as the biggest town in the county.
The Nevada Central's superintendent, C.A. Hirchcliffe, made numerous trips to Tuscarora and the Tuscarora Times-Review flatly stated that it was a "done deal."However, the great plans disappeared as quickly as they came.

Regina was born Aug. 26, 1938, to lifelong residents Ralph and Olive Stewart in Elko, Nev. She graduated from Elko County High School in 1956 and received her BA in education from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1960.
He spent many good years in Elko, hunting, fishing, visiting with friends and had many great memories to recall of the Cornwall Basin area of northern Elko County as well as Lamoille, the Ruby Mountains, the Deep Creek Mountains and West Desert of Utah.
He is survived by nephews, Bob Heguy, Mitch Heguy and Bob Smith, all of Elko; and by nieces, Lori Glover of Spring Creek, and Diane Smith of Calif.; three great-nephews and four great-nieces.
