ABSTRACT: Late Wisconsinan glacial and relative sea level history of Amund and Ellef Ringnes Islands, Nunavut, Canada.   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-12)
The interior of Amund Ringnes Island was overridden by granite-free Innuitian ice flowing north from a lowland divide spanning the central Queen Elizabeth Islands.
Although Ellef Ringnes Island experienced widespread Late Wisconsinan glaciation, it remains uncertain whether this was due to Innuitian ice flowing north from this lowland divide, or a local ice cap.
The continuity of the isobases across Amund and Ellef Ringnes islands is consistent with the glacial geologic evidence that suggests Massey and Hassel sounds were occupied by grounded ice during the last glaciation.

Ellef Ringnes Island - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ellef Ringnes Island is one of the Sverdrup Islands in Nunavut, Canada.
Ellef Ringnes Island was the last landmass to be visited by the Earth's wandering North Magnetic Pole.
They determined that the average position of the North Magnetic Pole in 1994 was located on the Noice Peninsula, southwest Ellef Ringnes Island, at 78.3° N, 104.0° W. The pole passed away from the island that year and now lies some 250 miles (400 km) to the NNW [1].

Postglacial emergence of Amund and Ellef Ringnes islands, Nunavut: implications for the northwest sector of the Innuitian Ice Sheet
These suggest the Ringnes Islands occupied the northwest radius of the Innuitian uplift, which is congruent with glacial geological evidence suggesting parts of the Ringnes Islands were covered by the Late Wisconsinan Innuitian Ice Sheet.
The absence of an isobase embayment across the Ringnes Islands suggests a relatively uniform ice load across both islands and Hassel and Massey sounds.
