Elmer Austin Benson (September 22, 1895–March 13, 1985) was an American politician from Minnesota.
He was appointed to the United States Senate on December 27, 1935 after the death of Thomas D. Schall and served until November 3, 1936.
Before ill health drove him from the public arena, Benson became a force within the short-lived Progressive Party, managing the 1948 presidential campaign of its candidate, Henry Wallace.

BENSON - AUSTIN BENSON, a former resident of Deansville, NY, but now of Madison Center, was on Monday last (December 14, 1885) working in the woods with his two hired men, getting out logs.
The log gave a bound over the blocking, striking Austin and throwing him under the log and breaking all the ribs on the right side and also breaking his shoulder and one leg.
He retained his senses to the last moment, and settled up all his business affairs, with the full knowledge that he had but a short time to live.
