Elmet (UK Parliament constituency) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Elmet is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom.
The constituency was created in 1983 to cover the far eastern wards of Leeds and neighbouring communities, notably Wetherby, Barwick-in-Elmet, Kippax, Garforth and Swillington.
Elmet has historically always been a marginal seat due to the demographic makeup of the region, in contrast to Barkston Ash which was traditionally Tory.

Northern Ireland is reviewed as a whole, and constituency boundaries may cross all district borders.
For example, if two adjacent areas are entitled to 1.5 constituencies each, they may be combined together and awarded three constituencies, rather than having two constituencies each, all of which would be well below the average constituency electorate.

Constituency boundaries are subject to regular review by an independent Boundary Commission, usually once every 10 to 15 years, to keep the electorate of each constituency as close to the national average as is reasonably possible.
Today, constituencies in England are mostly subdivisions of local authorities, with each constituency being comprised of a number of whole wards.

We need a Member of Parliament (whoever that might be) whose constituency embraces Pinderfields, who understands entirely the nature and roots of the illnesses which some of their constituents are facing and then will represent Pinderfields and the area generally whenever there is to be a debate.
In terms of the proposed new constituency of Morley and Outwood, if the Boundary Commission at the end of the day decided that that is a constituency that should be created and you were fortunate enough to represent that constituency, presumably you would represent it to the very best of your ability.

FT.com / In depth - The constituencies that hold the key to victory
There are a couple of liberal urban constituencies where the Lib Dems are hoping to inflict their first serious blows on Labour, and a fascinating test case as to whether they can translate local election dominance into general election votes in what has hitherto been a Lab-Con marginal.
Cases of the Lib Dems gaining Labour constituencies outside of by-election contests are surprisingly rare (Chesterfield in 2001 was an exception not the rule), but Blaydon probably represents their best chance in the country this time in a previously rock-solid Labour seat.
But despite this and the introduction of a devolved parliament with powers over a swathe of domestic policy, Scotland remains of vital importance in the nationwide contest, not least because of Labour’s continued strength in the 59 redrawn constituencies and the continued high profile of their Westminster representatives in government.
