Topic: Elmo Middle earth

Elmo (Middle-earth) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Elmo is only mentioned in the Unfinished Tales in discussions on Galadriel and Celeborn.
One of his solutions was to establish Celeborn as the grandson of Elmo, a non-important brother of Elwë who remained behind when Elwë was lost, becoming one of the Sindar of Doriath.
In this conception Elmo has a son named Galadhon, who in turn sired Celeborn and another son named Galathil, who was the father of Queen Nimloth of Doriath.

Elmo has been performed, since 1985, by Kevin Clash.
A popular doll called the Tickle Me Elmo was manufactured in his likeness, and became the must have toy during Christmas in 1996.
Elmo also routinely appeared on the Rosie O'Donnell show, and starred in a full length motion picture entitled Elmo in Grouchland.

 Elmo (Middle-earth)
Tolkien's fictional universe of Middle-earth, Elmo is in some writings the younger brother of Elwë/Thingol and Olwë.
Círdan was also (elsewhere) linked to Elmo's family, making him a kinsman to Thingol and Celeborn.
In writings which appear to be later than the one discussed above, Celeborn is made into a relative of Olwë of Valinor instead, but this was not further developed.

 Stories of Arda
From the second age of Middle Earth to the third, few of the elders of the elves remain to guide the young.
Still, relics of an ancient world exist, for good and ill. Divine banes return in a blaze of revolution, betrayal, war, balrog, death, and the cruel indifference of the Valar.
This is the tale of two lords of the Teleri and the final sundering of that vast host.

Celebrimbor and Gil-Galad - THE TOLKIEN FORUM
That would be a distinct rise in my social position were it not that they still regard me as being as ridiculous as ever.
I think Celeborn should be kept as the descendant of Elmo, rather than Olwë, the latter being too problematic and conflicting with the canon.
As for "ros"-the reason which Tolkien gives that it fails because of the name "Cair Andros" (a Sindarin name) and so the suffix "ros" was a Sindarin word, but then again he does state that many of Gondor's Sindarin place-names were errors or confusions of other words....

Our guests today have many things in common, not the lest of which is that they are incredibly fucked up it seems.
With us we have Galathil, Galadhon, Elmo, Nellas, Amarie, Finrod and some other pointy-eared people I don't recognize but I think that one in the corner eyeing me is Eol.
My father has not shown up yet, a fact that I am very grateful for and hope to have it remain that way for the rest of the night.

After all, LOTR covers the 3rd Age of Middle Earth, telling us very little about the previous two ages.
In fact, Tolkien began this work well before he began to weave it into the more familiar Middle Earth of the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.
It was not until LOTR achieved greatness that this could be released to an audience already demanding more of Hobbits and the Middle Earth.

Europe and the West (from kite) --  Encyclopædia Britannica
Kite flying began much later in Europe than in Asia.
While unambiguous drawings of kites first appeared in print in Holland and England in the 17th century, pennon-type kites that evolved from military banners dating back to Roman times and earlier were flown during the Middle Ages.
With about 7 percent of the world's land area, Europe is the second smallest continent on Earth, after Australia.

 Henneth Annûn - Challenges
'For so we reckon Men in our lore, calling them the High, or Men of the West, which were Númenoreans; and the Middle Peoples, Men of the Twilight, such as are the Rohirrim and their kin that dwell still far in the North; and the Wild, the Men of Darkness.'
Faramir speaking to Frodo in "The Window on the West", Chapter 5, Book IV, The Two Towers.
I would be very interested in seeing stories in which the assumed "superiority" of the High and Middle Peoples is challenged by the Wild Peoples.
