		Through Elmo's lively voiceover, we learn that by filling a glass with a paper towel, a bean, and some water you can grow a bean pod, which is just what Elmo does, along with interviewing a friendly cactus and showing us a homemade video of Stinky the Plant, back in his world.

	Elmo Tanner
		Elmo Tanner was a whistler and vocalist with the Ted Weems Orchestra, a dance band that symbolized a fabled period during the thirties and forties when dance music was at the peak of it's popularity.
		Elmo Tanner never made any whistling albums of his own, but he did put out a few 45s and is the featured whistler on a couple of LPs.

		Kids see enough orchestra and individual instruments to get the idea, but the Muppets then act out the story as the orchestra is playing, with, for example, the Violinist hamming it up and following 'Peter' (Elmo) around the story.

		I am a fan of Sesame Street and have a deep respect for the impact the show has had on the lives of young children.
		But I kind of scratch my head when, year after year, Elmo is held up as an example of what's best in children's music.
		It's a lighthearted and age-appropriate introduction to the instruments of the orchestra, and it gets some great music into the ears of kids, but this would not have been one of my picks for the top five children's music recordings of the year.

		I noted that although I didn't feel that Elmo and The Orchestra was the best of the year's releases, it just might walk away with the Grammy.
		It won, which just goes to prove my contention that brand recognition reigns supreme, even with children's music.
