		Accordions and fiddles, for example, remain popular as a lasting influence from Ireland.
		Northumbria is known for its long history of border ballads, such as "The Ballad of Chevy Chase" and dances, including social ones like the Elsdon Reel and others, like rapper dancing and Northumbrian clog dancing, more typically seen in concert halls.
		Northumbrian folk is most characterized by the use of Northumbrian smallpipes as well as a strong Scottish and Celtic influence.

		On one occasion we herded some cows to nearby Elsdon to be serviced by a bull.
		All the village turned out to greet him and the young boys, which included my brother and I, pulled him with ropes up the drive of Otterburn Hall whilst he was seated in an open-topped car.
		This was recorded on the cinema news reel of the day and I saw it years later on TV's 'All Our Yesterdays'.

		George Grooms, Sr., born 1800 in South Carolina, married about 1819/20 to Anera (refer to Haywood County Court records, Microfilm Roll # MF 26, Reel 2, Superior Court Minutes 1861, 1865), born 1801 in North Carolina.
		Anera is said to have been a Cherokee Indian.
