In Wayne’s case, her failure to just go along with this social engineering project was branded as "rabid prejudice" by Tory MP candidate Scott Brison, a P.C. leadership candidate who appears to embrace a bigotry against those who speak their minds on an issue in a democratic discussion.
One advocate for the "politically correct" cause says Wayne is "losing touch with the Canadian values of equality and respect." Well, it appears she has a firmer grasp on these values than those who desire to see debate one-sided and stifled, while reserving intimidation tactics for those who refuse to meekly toe the line.
Elsie Wayne spoke out in opposition of an issue, and for doing so was met with intolerance by those who should have known better.

Pro-life MP Elsie Wayne (PC, Saint John) has committed to introducing a private member's bill that would prevent the Canada Health Act (CHA) from being used to pressure provinces to fund abortions.
Wayne is responding to a letter sent by New Brunswick Right to Life President Peter Ryan to the province's 10 MPs which raised concerns about the federal government reading into the CHA a pro-abortion interpretation.

The ultimate proof that this is more an "Elsie Wayne" than automatically Tory riding was 1988, where in his last election, the PCs' Gerry Merrithew won by a smaller margin than Elsie in '93.
Wayne's personal popularity kept this in the Conservative column, but with her gone the Liberals are going to go all out for this seat.
