BRISTOL, Tenn. (April 12) — Lysol Racing driver Elton Sawyer may not have captured a win in his 300th NASCAR Busch Series start, but he did walk away with the points lead for the first time in his career.
After 250 grueling laps in Saturday’s Moore’s Snack 250, Sawyer piloted his Lysol Ford to a third-place finish and a one-point lead in the standings over Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Sawyer, a 16-year veteran of the NASCAR Busch Series, joined Tommy Houston (417) and Dale Jarrett (323) as the only drivers to start 300 races in the NASCAR Busch Series.

After the spin, the LYSOL team decided Sawyer’s tires were not flat-spotted and did some remarkable work to get him back on the track without going a lap down.
Sawyer said that his car was free in the center of the corners and the team made an air pressure adjustment in the right rear to alleviate the problem.
Sawyer’s damaged Ford was not fast enough to win the race, though, as Matt Kenseth passed Sawyer for the lead with less than 30 laps remaining and finished more than 10 seconds ahead of Sawyer.

After starting 10th in Saturday's race, Sawyer worked his way to as high as fourth place, but he continued to fight a tight car all day and could not mount a challenge at the end of the race.
Sawyer made his way up to the 19th position when he was hit from behind, causing him to spin into the outside retaining wall.

Sawyer underwent X-rays of his left ankle and right knee which revealed no major breaks but a possible chipped bone in his ankle and soft tissue in his knee.
