A Bosnia-Herzegovnian international, Elvir Baljic is an attacking player who was briefly Real Madrid CF's record signing when he joined the club from Fenerbahçe SK in 1999 for €17m.
Born in 1974, Baljic is something of a hero in his homeland after scoring 13 times in his first 29 internationals.
Baljic's career began with his hometown club, FK Sarajevo, although he left after a season for Turkish club Bursaspor.
