  Ely S. Parker - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ely Samuel Parker (1828 - August 31, 1895), Hasanoanda, was an Iroquois of the Seneca tribe born at Indian Falls, New York (then part of the Tonawanda Reservation).
During Civil War, Parker was first told by the Secretary of War, that he could not join the army since the Civil War was a "white man's war." Parker was, however, admitted into the military after his friend Ulysses S. Grant intervened.
Parker became the adjutant to his friend Ulysses S. Grant, and wrote the final drafts for the surrender at Appomattox Courthouse in April 1865.

In 1852, Parker became the sachem of his tribe and adopted the tribal name Donehogawa, or “Keeper of the Western Door of the Long House of the Iroquois.” In the late 1850s, Parker studied engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and began to work for the federal government, supervising public works projects.

I was under the impression that Ely Parker only had one daughter so the Parker name is not carried out through the generations by Ely but more likely through one of his brothers.
PBS aired a documentary on Ely Parker a few years back either called "Warrior in Two Worlds" or "Warrior in Two Camps." I think he only had a daughter, like Sallyguy said.
There are Parker family papers at both the University of Rochester special collections and at the American Philosophical Society.
