Just listen to the numbers (six total) from Arrieta's very melodious zarzuela 'Marina' wherein he is joined by several Spanish colleagues, notably Emilio Sagi-Barba, in duets, trios, a quartet, etc., and you just wish (I do, that's for sure) they had recorded it complete.

 Zarzuela! Composer Biographies - Arrieta
The son of a country landowner, Pascual Emilio Arrieta y Corera was born in Puente la Reina, Navarra, 21 October 1821.
Conservative in his politics, passionately italianate in his musical tastes, Arrieta took little part in the initial establishment of the Teatro de la Zarzuela, though he did contribute a short work El sonámbulo to the new venture (1856) as well as having a hand in several other pieces.
Arrieta's pleasant, italianate music certainly requires star singers to bring it to life, and this may be felt nowadays to be its limitation as well as its undoubted strength.

Emilio Arrieta (1823-1894) first went to Italy as a boy with one of his sisters.
Although Arrieta´s two operas were well received in Italy, Madrid´s Teatro Real did not provide him with the same facilities.
Arrieta became aware that, if his works were to triumph in Spain, they would have to be performed by Spanish artists and in the Spanish language.

Emigrantes / La señora capitana - Review
Arrieta wrote Ildegonda as an obligatory study exercise, showing off his comprehensive knowledge of Italian operatic methods without simply imitating them, demonstrating his own creativity with a degree of originality.
It shouldn't be forgotten that eventually the historical circumstances of 1850's Madrid forced Arrieta to neglect his operatic vocation to dedicate himself to the new genre being developed at that moment – zarzuela.
The finest fruit of his labour from that time was expended on the new form to which he made such a valuable stylistic and musical contribution, in three distinct phases.

'Emilio's new zarzuela Marina is most outstanding; a true Spanish Opera sure to please the crowd; it will, I'm sure, be much liked'.

James Edwards - Song of the Fisherman: Romantic Music of Spain
Much of his music is evocative of the landscapes and scenery of the Spanish countryside, as well as the throb of life in the cities, and he often used the local folk music he heard as a source of inspiration for his compositions.
Although Albéniz composed for piano, his contemporary (and fellow Catalàn) Francisco Tárrega began arranging his pieces for guitar, as did Tárrega's students Miguel Llobet and Emilio Pujol and many others.
Two of Tárrega arrangements also appear here: Serenata Española, a piano composition by Joaquin Malats performed widely by Andres Segovia, and Seguidillas and Tango, a dance-based composition by the celebrated Zarzuela composer Emilio Arrieta.
