Emily Jane Browning (born December 7, 1988) is an Australian actress who is best known for her roles as Katie Hargrove in Ghost Ship and Violet Baudelaire in Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events.
Browning was born in Melbourne to Shelley and Andrew Browning.
Browning's acting breakthrough began when she was noticed by a friend's father at a school play; he recommended that she pursue acting as a profession.
