Emly parish choir sang under the direction of Nora Hennessy and Marie Ryan provided music.
The family received presentations on behalf of the community of Emly and Mrs Mullan laid a wreath on the graves of her ancestors before the congregation retired to the Golden Thatch in Emly.

 Thomas Croke - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thomas William Croke (1824-1902) was the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Cashel and Emly in Ireland.
Croke was a strong supporter of Irish nationalism, aligning himself with the Land League and the chairman of the Irish Parliamentary Party, Charles Stewart Parnell.
In honour of Croke, his successors as Archbishop of Cashel and Emly traditionally are asked to throw in the ball at the minor Gaelic football and hurling All-Ireland finals.

The unveiling of this emigrant memorial was part of an Emly Failte Week when representatives of Emly emigrant families travelled from as far as Australia, America and Britain to trace the roots of their ancestors in the parish of Emly.
The emigrant memorial was the brainchild of the committee of Emly Rural Development Association and quickly touched a chord in the hearts of people for whom their Irish and Emly roots were important.
Now the names of emigrant Emly people are inscribed and continue to be inscribed on stone in their native place.

EMLY, a parish, and the seat of a diocese, in the barony of CLANWILLIAM, county of TIPPERARY, and province of MUNSTER, 7 miles (S.W.) from Tipperary town, and 15 (W.) from Cashel, on the confines of the county of Limerick; containing 3838 inhabitants, of which number, 701 are in the village.
This place, noticed under the name of "Imlagh," by Ptolemy, as one of the three principal towns of Ireland, is of very remote antiquity, and was formerly an important city and the seat of a diocese.

King John, in the 17th of his reign, granted the privilege of holding markets and fairs in the town, which, since the union of the see of Emly with that of Cashel in 1568, has gradually declined, and is now comparatively an insignificant village, containing only 115 houses.
Among the successors of St. Ailbe in the See of Emly, previously to the landing of the English, and who were styled indifferently abbots or bishops, were several who exercised sovereign power at Cashel, as Kings of Munster.
Olchobhair Mac Cionoatha, who in 847 succeeded to the prelacy, and to throne of Munster, aided by Lorcan, son of the King of Leinster, killed 1200 of the Danes who had plundered the monastery during the preceding year; and 1700 were slain in a subsequent battle, in which Olchobhair was killed.

The Nationalist offices in Clonmel, the County Library in Thurles and the Limerick Leader archives became focal points for the tedious research which had to be done to gather the relevant information about the club, from its foundation in 1886 to the end of 1999.
The club is extremely proud of Paddy Russell, one of the association's top referees for many years and equally proud of Mick Frawley who has served the GAA as a high ranking official at club, divisional, county, provincial and national levels for many years.
Paddy Russell is one of the best known referees in the country, having referred in all four provinces, and was the man in charge for the Cork- Meath All Ireland senior football final in 1990 and the Dublin- Tyrone final in 1995.

He was clerk of the ordnance from 1852 to 1857; was appointed privy councillor in 1855; was vice-president of the board of trade in 1866; under-secretary for the colonies, 1868-1870; postmaster-general, Jan., 1871, to Nov., 1873.
Finally he was raised to the peerage as Baron Emly on 12 Jan., 1874.
He lost much of his popularity in Ireland during his later years, owing to his opposition to the land league and to the Home Rule movement.
