Gryner embarked on tours with The Cardigans, Alanis Morissette, Sarah McLachlan and Bernard Butler, with whom she opened the first show at New York's City Bowery Ballroom in 1998.
Gryner began an on-line diary, which continues to this day, offering an uncensored daily look into her career, with stories from the road, the studio and day-to-day life in music and beyond.
In 1999, Gryner launched a series of living room shows in the homes of her fans, many of whom were too young to frequent bars to see live music.

Emm says she founded Dead Daisy in order to "release music that the majors ignore," but she wasn't ignored for long.
EMM: The reason behind it was not only to launch a cool experience, but a lot of my fans are underage and so they can't come to clubs and I had them in mind when I thought of doing then originally.
EMM: I have a tour across Canada that starts on the 8th of January, then a show in England, there are a few little projects I am working on and I am also working on my next record in my spare time.

Asianblue (2002) brought two Emm Gryner assaults on the Canadian charts and with her singles lodged on the airwaves, Emm decided to release a DVD.
Emm has tackled a diverse range of Irish tracks here and what makes them work is that she hasn't bulldozed and totally changed the songs to make them sound unrecognisable but rather has added her own personality and touch within the confines of the existing song.
I think Emm's arrangements and interpretations of the songs on the CD are all quite artistic, and her singing has never sounded any better.

Emm: Yeah...yeah..it's mostly just an idea that sparks up and it just could be just something in my mind that day or I'm thinking of somebody or someone has pissed me off or something (hehe) It's one or the other.
Emm: Yeah, I move there just to write really and I felt that if I was in a house all by myself that would be more inspiring than a tiny apartment in Brooklyn or something...which I would probably love too but I don't know.
Emm: I kind of switch between my first one, the Original Leap Year and Sciece Fair which is the one I recoreded at the Cottage on A track.

Emm begins the CD with what is her best dance/pop production to date.
I believe "Siamese Star" is not as emotive as Emm may have hoped, although this is purely a guess on my part, and the production in this song implies that she invested a lot of energy in this song.

Canadian indie musician Emm Gryner got the accolade of a lifetime this month when Britain's Q Magazine, celebrating their 20th Anniversary, asked U2 frontman Bono what songs he wishes he had written from the last 20 years.
Among the various artists and songs he mentioned was none other than Emm's "Almighty Love" from her new album, The Summer of High Hopes.

Emm Gryner gets points for striking out on her very own, much like Ani DiFranco, not only bypassing the music industry but kicking some sand in it's face along the way.
Now despite how great all this looks on paper, and how critics are stumbling all over their thesauruses in praise of this younger woman, Gryner is still a ways from earning her escalating reputation.
Works well on "Dear Doom" as Gryner bumps and grinds ever so effectively, but momentum quickly stalls on the overblown weeper that follows.

My personal favorites are "Symphonic" (which soars right up to heaven on a sonic melody of sheer bliss) and "Young Rebel" (Emm branching out into a layered, loping, trip-hopped drenched ditty The Thin White Duke would certainly approve of).
Beneath the surface Emm's words reveal personal heartache and keen observations of people, relationships, and politics.
Sure I love Alanis debut and Avril have her moments, but Emm’s music feels fresher for the year 2003.

As time went by, Emm added more covers to her sets and eventually thought putting them all on one CD would be a good idea
The result is a collection of covers Emm herself describes as “noisy boy songs stripped right down to piano and cello and vocal.” Think what Tori Amos did to Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ years ago.
So despite the fact that she is a female singer who is nice as pie and sings sensitive songs, Emm Gryner insists there is no such thing as “female” music.
