Topic: Emmanuel Cellar

Emanuel Ringelblum - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
On the eve of the ghetto's destruction in the spring of 1943, when all seemed lost, the archive was placed in three milk cans and metal boxes.
In December 1950 in a cellar of another ruined house at 68 Nowolipki Street two additional milk cans were found containing more documents.
Among them were copies of several underground newspapers, a narrative of deportations from the Warsaw Ghetto, and public notices by the Judenrat (the council of Jewish leaders), but also documents of ordinary life, concert invitations, milk coupons, and chocolate papers.

The office was a raised loft in the cellar, sound-proofed with hay behind old and dusty junk.

Emmanuel de Soos elevates the carignan into a spicy, gutsy red with old vine richness and concentration.
A mature 20 year old, it was healthy enough with the grassy scents of slightly underripe cabernet sauvignon and though there was some sweetness, natural acidity and soft tannins, the wine was curling up its toes.
And while the cork was as spongy as a crumbly cheese, the decanted wine was fragrant, ethereal, with a truffley, liquorice like bouquet, with an undertone of forest floor savouriness leading to the silkiest texture.
