  Emmerdale - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Emmerdale (known as Emmerdale Farm until 1989) is a British television soap opera set in the fictional West Yorkshire village of the same name (known as Beckindale until 1994).
Emmerdale Farm was originally modelled on the revolutionary soap-opera The Riordans, made by RTÉ, Ireland's broadcaster, from the 1960s to the mid 1970s.
Emmerdale is notable for being the first television soap opera in the UK (and possibly the world) to regularly produce six episodes a week, shown every night, except Saturday, at 7 p.m.

Tom came to Emmerdale in 2004 to set up his business which his sons help him with which is called King and Sons.

: I have watched Emmerdale since i was about 9 and now im 17 and my favourite moments were when kim tate flew off in the helicopter with her son james i was so relieved when she didnt get arrested and my other favorite moment is when chas punched louise in the face.
My funniest episode on Emmerdale was when Viv Windsor fell head first in to the wheelie bin my family and i was in stitches for days on end.
Ive been watching Emmerdale since the plane crash, i was bad in hospital then with a broken arm so it really intrigued me to watch further episodes.

The UK broadcasting watchdog, Ofcom, has cleared 'Emmerdale' and 'Coronation Street' for scenes which drew a number of complaints after being broadcast.
