The only female member of the Cabaret Voltaire, Emmy Hennings, had, as may be imagined, a hard time holding her own against an otherwise all-male cast.
Emmy had a thin, anti-diva-ish voice, but she had a strong personality.
As the only woman in this cabaret manned by poets and painters, Emmy supplied a very necessary note to the proceedings, although (or even because) her performances were not artistic in the traditional sense, either vocally or as interpretations.
