Emotional Technology - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Emotional Technology is the fourth album by electronica artist Brian Transeau, also known as BT.
However, The Technology EP serves as a non-formal single release for "Superfabulous", "The Force of Gravity" and "The Great Escape".
The 4 winners were announced in early 2004 and they won signed copies of Emotional Technology among other prizes.

Guardian Unlimited Technology | Technology | Emotional about design
The sequel, Emotional Design, is based on the idea that there are three levels at play in design: visceral, behavioural, and reflective.
An example, on the cover of Emotional Design, is Philippe Starck's Juicy Salif, about which the designer reportedly said: "My juicer is not meant to squeeze lemons, it is meant to start conversations." Norman says he has one, "but I don't use it for squeezing lemons".
You choose the ones with emotional appeal, the ones you can fall in love with, the ones that say more about you than cash ever can.

BT : Emotional Technology - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
Emotional Technology is no great departure from the cinematic landscape of Brian Transeau's excellent last album, the diverse Movement in Still Life.
Keeping with that album's attention to detail and seamless flow from track to track, Emotional Technology differs by being more ambitious, personal, and in the end a bit less satisfying.
Just a shade less stunning than his last full-length, Emotional Technology at least establishes him as one of the better album constructors in the singles-driven world of dance.

Amazon.com: Emotional Technology: Music: BT   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
Emotional Technology’s centerpiece and soul come in the form of "Dark Heart Dawning" and "The Great Escape," two of his more abstract pieces.
BT lets loose on several tracks, gleefully strutting his stuff as a frontman singing with hard rock abandon on "Circles." Despite the Stones jones, BT doesn’t exile his classical breeding, which is too embedded to be completely buried beneath his rawk inklings.
At seventy-eight minutes, Emotional Technology gets a bit long in the tooth, but you get the feeling that the myriad streams of sound -- high and low, organic and digital -- that pass between (and through) his ears, have finally nestled together in a grandiose manner he envisioned.

Technology is about the automation of things people do.
Technology stocks are not so much driven by logic today, but by the basic raw emotions of excitement and greed.
The stock market uses a lot of technology but it is highly unlikely that the stock market will ever be fully automated.

BT: Emotional Technology - PopMatters Music Review
He couldn't get an actual actress/pop star, so he got actress/dater of pop stars Rose McGowan, who's actually not half-bad on the self-consciously titled "Superfabulous" but who is, like many of the vocalists on Emotional Technology (including BT himself), so overproduced that she comes off more as a prop than as an actual collaborator.
I don't think it's coincidence that the best tracks on Emotional Technology are the ones on which BT collaborates with the "fuck off" artists, instead of the pop-oriented folk his desire to be loved constantly draws him to.
Emotional Technology's other standout track is "The Great Escape", features singer/cellist and William Orbit protege Caroline Lavelle, another maverick artist whose own work often evokes comparisons to Enya but which has a restless mix of classical and electronica influences all its own.

Slant Magazine - Music Review: BT: Emotional Technology
T's new studio album, Emotional Technology, employs the same electronica-meets-rock of his last effort, Movement In Still Life, but lacks the seamless and capricious buoyancy that made that record so utterly captivating.
Though it's his fourth album, one could liken Emotional Technology to a big-budget sophomore album—it's over-ambitious and self-conscious to a fault.
BT's musical palette may very well be inherently eclectic, but he might be better off taking Beck's lead and focus on one musical genre at a time.

BT : Emotional Technology [ Album review ] » Brian Transeau, The Only Constant Is Change, Knowledge Of Self, Rose McGowan, Scott McCloud, Superfabulous, JC Chasez, Somnambulist, Circles, Dark Heart Dawning, Animals
Transeau doesn't get everything his own way: Emotional Technology is a long album, and some of the more extensive tracks - such as the seven minutes plus of Dark Heart Dawning and Animals for example - end up outstaying their welcome.
You can get away with this sort of indulgence in trance circles, but if you're creating pop songs - as a lot of these are - you've got to be prepared for a little ruthless editing.
