Emperor Wu created his infant son Xiao Tong, who was born of his concubine Consort Ding during the war against Xiao Baojuan, crown prince.
In 545, Emperor Wu's official He Chen (賀琛) wrote a submission Emperor Wu to correct four matters -- the corruption of officials, the wastefulness in the luxurious style of living among officials and the population at large, the harshness of penal laws, and the overspending on construction projects (mostly temples).
Emperor Wu and Xiao Gang put together the imperial guards to defend the palace, and initially, the defenses held, particularly because the key general, Yang Kan, was capable.

At his greatest, Emperor Wu-ti commanded troops from southern Vietnam to northern Korea and westward into the far reaches of Asia, recapturing the glory of the empire's grandest days and setting territorial and cultural precedents that would not be met again for several centuries when the Tang dynasty rebuilt a stagnant nation.
To reduce the threat of undue influence on the next emperor from relatives of his empress (a former slave elevated to the status of courtesan and finally claimed by Wu-ti as his wife for her docility and subservience), Wu-ti ruthlessly ordered the slaying of her relatives, assuring his son a government unfettered by personal rivalry.
In spite of this, China reached her greatest territorial extent during Wu-ti's reign, and he is considered to have been one of China's greatest leaders.

This new Kingdom of Later Liang in Hupei was to be controlled by whatever power was established in the valley of the Wei - the Western Wei (535-57), the Northern Chou (557-81) and the Sui (581-618), who put an end to it in 587.

Liang was believed to die of an illness in the year of 1135.
Originally an entertainer, Liang Hongyu must have had an excellent grasp of the drumming techniques, but when she applied her skills to the battle fields, they were taken to an entire new level.
In the second year of the Xuanhe Period of Emperor Huizong’s reign (1120), the country was plagued by a peasant rebellion led by Fang La. This is not a Wu Fen, but a rarer, heavier variety with the same sort of casting style, possibly an ancient counterfeit from the time of the Wu Fen coins.
