It was released on April 15, 1996, almost four years after the band's first, self-titled album.

Alec Empire - Intelligence and Sacrifice Album Review
Empire couldn't have concluded the first section in a better way; this leads you through to the quite contrasting part 2.
Starting off with a track called "2641998" the longest track on the album (29 Minutes) and without a doubt the most crazy, a meandering wonder through some very strange noises and sonic climates, this is followed by" The Cat Woman Of The Moon" this helps you wind down after the previous onslaught of angst.
Apparently Empire spent most of his studio time, working on the second part of this album, the music has a lighter feel but still manages to remain edgy and keep your attention while you float through an interesting mixture of dark electro sound effects.

The album's sound, a very noisy and chaotic mix of guitar samples, distorted breakbeats, 909, manga samples and shouting, and its political overtones (with the declared goal of "not to reform the system, to destroy the system"), virtually reinvented the mission of dance music in the wake of the triumph of western-style capitalistic values.

Kasabian - Empire : album review
It's an album which hits and misses, fits and starts, peaks and troughs.
It is better than the eponymous debut, although not to the level that their self-satisfaction with it would suggest, and there is still a distinct lack of consistency and a feeling that occasionally while you can see who and what they're aiming at, they miss quite considerably.
Through it all, and most importantly, Empire is an improvement.

Evil Empire is what I like to consider the middle child of all Rage, in terms of while-a-band Rage-penned albums Though they did release a fourth album, it was after they broke up, its all covers anyway, so there's no legitimate rage to it.
The third album, "Battle of Los Angeles," seems focused on creating the coolest, weirdest sounds possible, and Zach only being mad because he's supposed to be- while I like that album (for the most part), there doesn't seem to be as much emotion in it as in all of their other material.
The album's first notes are light on People of the Sun, but it really sounds like a return album, de la Rocha saying a few words during Morello's simple guitar, rapping for a bit, and then with the chorus kicking in powerfully, It's coming back around again.

Their highest selling album, 1992's Images and Words, was awarded a gold record and is consistently named as a seminal progressive metal release, although it only reached #61 on the Billboard 200 charts.
Despite the album containing some very progressive-sounding songs, tracks like Hollow Years and You Not Me prompted some to believe it was the dawn of a new, mainstream-sounding Dream Theater, just as the release of Empire had previously heralded the same shift for Queensrÿche.
The new album, Octavarium, was released on June 7, 2005.

Given the state of affairs and activism of peers like NOFX's Fat Mike, it's natural for Greg Graffin, Brett Gurewitz, and company to point their measured seethe and trademark erudition against shady politics and policies of preemptive security.
The Empire Strikes First isn't a return to Bad Religion at its most vitriolic and unstoppable -- whether that could ever really happen is unclear, and probably unnecessary.

The term evil empire was applied to the former Soviet Union by U.S. President Ronald Reagan during the latter stages of the Cold War.
For example, the rock group Rage Against the Machine released an album with this name (see Evil Empire (album)).
Some consider the term a reference to the Star Wars series of movies, which pitted the Rebel Alliance against the Empire of the evil Darth Vader, especially since Reagan was reportedly a big fan of the movies.
