From 1953 Empire Day was made the date of the Queen's official birthday in Canada by annual Vice-regal proclamation, the link being made permanent in 1957.
In 1977 Commonwealth Day was moved to the second Monday in March, but Canadians continued to celebrate Victoria Day in May. In Canada, this holiday and Canada Day are celebrated with fireworks, though Victoria Day is a decidedly lower-key event.
Monarchist groups often use Victoria Day as a day of celebration, but to the majority of Canadians the day is simply a holiday off from work, with little specific meaning.

Commonwealth Day is the annual celebration of the Commonwealth of Nations held on the second Monday in March, and which is marked by a multi-faith service in Westminster Abbey attended by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Head of the Commonwealth, the Commonwealth Secretary-General and the Commonwealth High Commissioners in London.
In 1958 Empire Day was renamed Commonwealth Day, and from 1977 it has been celebrated on the second Monday in March rather than in May.
Although Commonwealth Day is not widely known, many Commonwealth countries do have at least one public holiday that commemorates monarchist traditions.

In May from 1905 the three seperate departments started to celebrate Empire Day instead of having normal lessons they had lessons on the Empire including duties and responsabilities of its members.
Then they would form a procession and proceed to Bury Field where they would sing patrotic songs and listen to speeches then they saluted the flag.
The only time that the departments did not celebrate Empire day in this way was when King Edward VII died and out of a mark of respect they did not celebrate by a procession and singing of patriotic songs they had simple lessons on the Empire at the school.

David Witteried and Rich Bessette prepared their cars of what was to be a fun day of putting their Porsches through their paces.
The race which was held at the Shaffner airport was run over a 1.5 mile course (this is very long for an autocross).

We then decided to get in line to get up to the top observatory, on the 103rd floor and although the view was more spectacular, we were enclosed in a small place that had a lighthouse aura and scratchy plexiglass windows.
