		He is debriefed about the encounter with Q, then Picard leaves him on his own to initiate a difficult manual reconnection of the saucer section which has just arrived.

		The first part of Encounter at Farpoint is pretty good, the characters are nicely introduced and mostly well-played by the cast.
		When the secret of Farpoint is revealed (which you'll probably figure out before the cast does), all the conjecture and facts are messily spouted in one of those silly coversations where each character continues the sentence after the previous speaker has finished.

		Well, Farpoint was made in a time before CGI effects had been perfected (just remember the crude effects of "The Last Starfighter", made only three years before the TNG pilot) and were inexpensive, and the series was evolving.

		Though the show falls flat where it is concerned with the Farpoint station, the concept of Q is well developed; an omnipotent, all-powerful being appears and tells the humans they can come this far and no farther.
