Rock and roll (also spelled Rock n Roll, especially in its first decade), also called rock, is a form of popular music, usually featuring vocals (often with vocal harmony), electric guitars and a strong back beat; other instruments, such as the saxophone, are common in some styles.
Garage rock (performed by garage bands, not to be confused with UK Garage, a genre of dance music) was a simple, raw form of rock and roll that emerged in the mid-1960s, largely in the United States.

Pub rock is a style of Australian rock and roll popular throughout the 1970s and 1980s and still influencing contemporary Australian music today.
Sydney in particular has seen many staple live music venues close, falling victim to increasing rents in gentrified areas; noise restrictions imposed by local governments in response to local residents' demands; the popularity of the DJ and dance music; and the supposedly greater profitability of poker machines.
The newer generation of bands that could be considered the followers of the Pub Rock tradition includes: Jet, The Living End, Magic Dirt, You Am I, and Shihad (also known for some time as Pacifier).

As many as one in 10 of all Aboriginal children, historians calculate, were removed from their families between 1910 and 1971 under government policies aimed at providing a white education in order to "civilize" them.
There is now a nationwide movement, comprising Australians of all races, to pressure the government to apologize for its actions and provide reparations to those who were removed.

The fiery Rock and Roll Sandwich (the band's first album in five years, issued November 1973 and probably the first Kevin Borich album) considered their best album and came nearest to capturing their admired live energy on vinyl.

It's probably a symptom of the long-standing male domnination of popular music that her status is not as high as it should be, and while she has always been a famous figure in her home country of New Zealand, her many great achievements have never been fully acknowledged here in her adopted home.
For their fifth Australian single, HMV went with the second Aladdin release, and this put Dinah back on the Australian charts.
She became passionately interested in body-building and in 1984 Dinah was voted the Australian Female Body Builder of the Year in the over-35s category, and she even wrote a book on the subject.

Compiler Ian McFarlane (Raven staffer and author of things you should have in your life like the "Encyclopedia of Australian Rock and Pop" and the "Prehistoric Sounds" mags) has done what we all would have in taking a subjective approach to the task at hand.
Unlike Shock's double "Do the Pop!" set, there's no track from the Saints but that's probably down to the fact the label already has a heap of their stuff out in the marketplace.
For your hard-earned you cop 22 tracks, eight of them duplicated on "Do the Pop!" Where that set had the luxury of being a double (and was able to include more than one track from the bigger names) "Born..." has to settle for one.
