The main docks (4) on Endymion are on the south and southeast (2) sides and are often busy but are close to the facilities for much of their length to allow fair sized sailboats to dock.
We would recommend that you consider Endymion and Sunset Island, which are almost joined at the south end of the bay.
Endymion is a good place to take kids for a fauna lesson in th Thousand Islands as the trail is good and the island has a diverse and rare ecosystem that has survived its popularity with lots of ferns and the Deerberry which is a native of the Niagara Peninsula area.

On 23 September she captured the schooner HMS Highflyer, 5 guns, off New York, and arrived Newport, Rhode Island, 27 September 1813.
She sailed from Providence, Rhode Island 4 December on a cruise to the West Indies, returning to New York 15(?) February 1814, and was blockaded there for almost a year by a British squadron.
She sailed from New York 14 January 1815 under Capt. Stephen Decatur, and the next day was captured by a squadron consisting of Endymion, Majestic, Pomone, and Tenedos.

Many boats anchor east of the island, but be sure to set an anchor light as it is near a favorite route to Gananoque.

Well, the bots get stuck in a few spots, usually on the island in the middle where the ball is. They don't seem to go to the other ship to make a goal all that often, but I've seen them do it a few times.
In terms of the item placement, aside from finding the ball on the island, you can also be grabbing a few pickups (such as ammo and Shield Packs) on that very island, plus find some health, weapons and more ammo aboard each ship.
The terrain usage on that island in the middle is outstanding, though it's a tad steep, I'd say.

The Thousand Islands lies in the St. Lawrence River, running along the Canadian side of the border from Kingston to Brockville, Ontario, a distance of less than 80 km (50m).
Tying a line to an island is a gray area, but a little education and a few fines could have solved this problem as well.
Boaters arriving from Canada to visit Potters Beach (Grindstone Island) or Waterston Park (near Ivy Lea) must report to U.S. Customs before landing or anchoring, unless they have an I-68 form and report their arrival using a cell phone (there are no phones at either location).
