Emergy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
According to the Emergy Systems school, "Emergy is a systems concept that is context driven, and cannot be fully understood or utilized outside of systems context." In the context of environmental accounting, H.T.Odum (1996) defined emergy as,
With the aim of providing greater clarification of the concept it may be said, that the inclusion of the term energy memory in the definition of the word emergy implies that the properties of physical-biological-chemical materials can be included within the domain of the emergy schema.
As it is used by Scienceman, the term "energy memory" appears to have a connection with the physiological application of the cybernetic concept of "error" which is sometimes referred to as "memory".

Emergy Synthesis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Synthesis in this sense, is, to paraphrase the emergy systems school, 'the act of combining elements into coherent wholes rather than dissecting and breakings systems apart'.
Through the act of combining emerged new concepts and methods used for energy-based evaluations of human and environmental systems, and new corrolaries to the principles of energetics.
It also has very strong connections with Systems Ecology (also known as 'field physiology'), which might be considered it's parent, and the study of Gaia, or the noosphere.

Furthermore, energy consumption due to office equipment and related energy systems is expected to continue to rise.
ENERGY STAR printers power down to 10 to 100 watts after a predetermined period of inactivity (5 to 90 minutes) depending on the number of pages produced per minute, the paper format (standard or large), and whether the printer uses color.
And while the energy use of any type of fax may seem low because of its relatively low use, the fact that it is likely to be kept on around the clock can generate significant costs.

Energy is one of the most fundamental underpinnings of the U.S. economy – its price and availability affect all subsequent prices in the U.S. market and without adequate, affordable supplies, our economy and standard of living would collapse.
Our national energy policy needs to be demonstrably sound enough to withstand any one of these and other threats to our energy supply.
It encourages the conservation of energy through efficiency programs, but it also makes steps to ensure reliable and cleaner production of electricity from coal, nuclear, and gas and to decrease our reliance on imported energy sources by increasing production at home.

Sufficient energy storage capacity might have prevented the mid-August flout from cascading across the Midwest, the East Coast and Canada, a spokesman for the Washington-based Energy Storage Council said at a technology briefing in Washington last week.
Though consideration of energy storage needs in recent years has fallen by the wayside -- President Bush's 2001 National Energy Plan failed to even mention it -- the flout has catapulted storage to the forefront of policy discussions, Makansi told participants at the briefing sponsored by the U.S. Energy Association.

They get produced from the fission in the fuel, bounce around a lot in the moderator and lose most of their energy, then cause fission (sometimes) or get absorbed in the fuel (and produce a more highly energized uranium isotope, which then decays into another material by gamma and/or beta decay).
The fission fragments that are produced by the fission then slow down in the fuel losing most of their energy.
The energy is converted to heat in the fuel.
