 Energy development : ICT [2007/07/27]
Perhaps the biggest news going into the conference, according to a prominent Indian energy professional that would not be identified in print, is that tribes haven't made more attempts to enter the lucrative energy production market.
He added that in the past several decades, the energy extracted from tribal lands has amounted to $10 billion worth of coal, $15.3 billion of oil, $7.96 billion of natural gas (all by 2001 prices).
With a federal government concerned with the security of its energy imports, then the fossil and renewable energy resources located on tribal lands represents a significant contribution to the energy security and independence of the United States.

$510 Million Facility to Promote Renewable Energy Development in Pakistan
The program is the first of its kind in Pakistan and also one of the first to be developed under ADB's evolving clean energy and efficiency initiative, through which ADB is planning to expand energy efficiency operations in its developing member countries to $1 billion per year.
Pakistan's energy supplies are highly dependent on oil imports, the cost of which accounts for a large share of the country's total import bill.
The Alternative Energy Development Board is the executing agency for the program at the federal level, while at the provincial government level, the program will be executed via special purpose implementing agencies such Irrigation and Power Departments.

  Energy Development
The federal government has moved fast to meet this increased demand for the development of public land and is doing so at an unprecedented rate, often without taking the necessary precautions to meet the needs of fish and wildlife populations.
Unfortunately, many of these locations that are being pressured for oil and gas development also hold some of the nation’s best hunting for mule deer, elk, pronghorn, sage grouse, and prairie chickens, plus blue-ribbon fishing for cutthroat, rainbow, and brown trout.
Hastily developed energy projects in states such as Colorado and Wyoming have shown that oil and gas extraction can have drastic effects on fish and game populations if the needs of wildlife aren’t studied and met before, during, and after the development process.
