The chase having been seized as crown-land after the death of Charles I. it was surveyed by order of the house of commons in the year 1650, when its extent was reported to be 7904 acres, and its value 4742l.
The Queen was at Enfield from Sept. 8 to Sept. 22, 1561.
In a dispute between Uvedale and some of the parishioners of Enfield, it was made a matter of accusation against him, that he had neglected the children of the free-school, and deserted the school-house, having taken a large mansion to accommodate his numerous boarders.

The principal manor of Enfield, which was held by Asgar, Edward the Confessor's master of horse, was in the hands of the Norman baron Geoffrey de Mandeville at the time of Domesday, and belonged to the Bohun family in the 12th and i3th centuries.

A large part of the London Borough of Enfield was the royal hunting ground of Enfield Chase from 1136 till its enclosure in 1779.
From the 17th century onwards, the gentry were attracted to Enfield and built houses both in the town and in the surrounding countryside.
When Enfield Chase was enclosed in 1779, a portion was allotted to Enfield villagers as compensation for the loss of their common rights.

The ancient area of Enfield Chase, of which Trent Park is a part, was for centuries a hunting ground bordering on Enfield, Cheshunt, Northaw, South Mimms, Barnet and Edmonton.
The chase had four principal uses in its early days hunting, wayfaring, pasturing pigs and cattle and a source of wood for fuel and house construction.
He passed an Act of Parliament which assigned large areas on the edge of the chase to the neighbouring parishes, farms and tithe owners, while the small central area that remained was divided into lots to be sold off for agricultural improvement.

There are some visitor parking spaces situated in the forecourt at the front of the building but if there are no spaces available on site, then at present there are few side street parking restrictions so a space should be available quite close by.

Enfield Town is about 10 minutes walk away - turn left out of the station, straight along Church St (the main shopping street), past the library green, over the New River bridge and the Centre is on your left at the traffic lights.
Route 191 stops on Chase Green on the opposite side of the junction to the Centre.

In the archives of the Enfield Methodist Church is an old Sunday School Minute Book, which contains a reference in the early 1880's of a complaint by one of the teachers about the behaviour of the boys and of the rain coming through the roof.
Enfield took their part in the "Push Campaign" to remove the debt on the circuit church in the 1940's and also to accept a large part of the burden of building new churches at Ponders End, White Hart Lane, Goff's Oak in 1957 and later St. John on the Cambridge Arterial Road.
He did not stay long at Enfield, only two years and during that period he had an illness, when the Reverend P. Young took charge, and then he moved on to Hertford where he was well received and had a successful ministry.

Potters Bar was originally a tiny hamlet gathered around a minor entrance to Enfield Chase, a royal hunting ground.
The Chase stretched from here to Southgate but, despite its size, was in decline from the time of Oliver Cromwell onwards.
Neglect by the monarchs left the rangers unable to control the excesses of the commoners, and in 1777 the area’s special status was terminated by parliament.
