During the Academia Engelberg from 10 - 12 October 2007 the Academia Engelberg Foundation invites the public to this event.
The winter season ticket of the Engelberg Sport Cableways is valid from 29 September 2007 until 25 May 2008, which means that the winter season on the Titlis now lasts eight whole months!

Engelberg Abbey is a Benedictine monastery in Engelberg, Canton of Obwalden, Switzerland.
The abbey was placed under the immediate jurisdiction of the Holy See, which condition continued until the formation of the Swiss Congregation in 1602, when Engelberg united with the other monasteries of Switzerland and became subject to a president and general chapter.
In spiritual matters the abbots of Engelberg exercised quasi-episcopal jurisdiction over all their vassals and dependents, including the town which sprang up around the walls of the abbey, and also enjoyed the right of collation to all the parishes of the Canton.

To reach Engstlenalp from Engelberg, you ride on gondola to Trubsee, walk across the valley (15min), take a chairlift to Jochpass, another chairlift to Engstlensee, then a 10 minute walk to Hotel Engstlenalp where many hikes start, and where you can get a good lunch.
There are two main trails from the top of this gondola, one high level walk back to Engelberg and one easier walk further up the valley and then back to the valley floor to the bottom of the gondola station.
