If we can abide by confusing conventions such as writing "S" for Knight even in english notation and writing black's moves first in the notation for helpmates, then more sensible conventions such as "C-" should not be altered.
Evently the Nightrider (N) is probably an excuse but in the FEN notation and the player's book we find N for Knight (and not S).
