		The Enid is a British rock band founded in 1975 by Robert John Godfrey, Stephen Stewart and Francis Lickerish.
		After some unpleasant experiences with major record labels, which initially welcomed the band with open arms and then dumped them after failing to promote their records, the band relied on self-publishing and promotion, which was helped by the fact that their settlement with one of the labels included some recording equipment.
		Robert John Godfrey has said that he does not regard The Enid as a progressive rock band and would rather not be associated with the term, but that has not stopped prog rock fanzines and websites from promoting the band.

		By the time the album as released in 1985, The Enid albums were releasing their albums on compact disc (all of which would be available over the next 5 years) and had achieved exposure not only by their successful tours but also via the television medium.
		The album was called Salome (The Enid ENID 10, 12.00) and was actually conceived by Godfrey as a ballet and performed as such at the Hammersmith Odeon in autumn of 1986.

		Let's see, the Enid are probably THE MOST symphonic band you'll ever hear and usually (but there are exceptions) instrumental.
		The Enid: The rock side of this band reminds me of the English band 10 CC in places.

		What is definite is that this is one of the Enid's crowning achievements and is probably the standard by which all of their music is measured.
