The name enneagon comes from Greek enneagonon, (εννεα, nine + γωνον, corner), while nonagon comes from Latin (nonus, "ninth" + gonon).
Enneagon is usage consistent with, for example, hexagon; in practice nonagon is often used.
A regular enneagon is not constructible with compass and straightedge.

 Description Discussion - Lusternia Forums
A single, enneagon shaped cone protrudes from the crown of his head, and smooth, upward swept spikes, spiral around it, pressed close to its surface.
Assuming "enneagon" is a word used to describe a shape, you'd need to cut the comma after spikes or the sentence is all disjointed and weird.
Enneagon may confuse people, though, and that might be a bad thing; I don't know.

I and those that I discussed the matter with at the time, assumed Arica/Oscar decided to use "enneagon" because Enneagram was already in common use (in such works as In Search of the Miraculous) and could not be copyrighted or service marked.
an enneagon, but rather a figure composed of two overlapping separate figures, a triangle and a six-pointed figure which results in a "nine-diagram" or Enneagram.
The enneagon was taken in a very secluded way; it was only given under very tough conditions of initiation after a long time of being in a sect, more than twenty years at least.

The Enneagram (also sometimes called Enneagon) is a nine-pointed diagrammatic figure used for various purposes in a number of teaching systems.
In geometry, the enneagram is a regular 9-sided star polygon, using the same points as the regular enneagon, but connected in fixed steps.
There is also a star figure, {9/3}, also made from the regular enneagon points, but connected as a compound of three equilateral triangles.

Arica training seeks to overcome the control and influence of the ego fixations so that the individual may return to the inner balance with which he or she was born.
Ichazo's "enneagons," central to this lawsuit, are nine-pointed figures, enclosed in a circle, with straight lines connecting each point to two others.
The six other fundamental enneagons portray qualities of the nine fixations in labels attached to the point associated with that fixation.

Ichazo's four main versions of the enneagram are called the Enneagon of the Passions, of the Virtues, of the Fixations, and of the Holy Ideas.
The Enneagons of the Virtues and Holy Ideas are the original Divine Forms of man, which become distorted, leaving the enneagons of the passions and ego-fixations.

Dictionaries, too, usually list "nonagon" and "undecagon" rather than Conway's preferred "enneagon" and "hendecagon," if they list either.
That's because they are "descriptive," telling how people actually use words, rather than being "prescriptive," telling how they would use words if they were intelligent.

Oscar Ichazo (who has been my teacher for 22 years) has innovated many uses of the enneagram (which he calls "enneagon").
In an interview with Michael Goldberg in LA WEEKLY several years ago, Ichazo said that "Sufis have no interest in the enneagon." This was confirmed by Sheikh Nur al-Jerrahi, a Sufi who was also interviewed.
Perhaps one Sufi teacher might hold that the enneagon has no interest to Sufis but others hold that the enneagram does, even if they equate the two terms.

In Personality Types (11-26), we offered a more extensive history of the system, but here, we want to look at the basics of the Enneagram system developed by Ichazo.
Ichazo actually taught Aricans a system of 108 Enneagrams (or "Enneagons," in his terminology), but the Enneagram movement in America has been based on the first few, and primarily on four of them.
It gives readers a feel for Ichazo's overall philosophy and explains in simple language his orientation and use of Enneagrams, or "Enneagons," as he calls them.
