Enrique Olaya Herrera International Airport - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Enrique Olaya Herrera International Airport (IATA: EOH, ICAO: SKMD) is a regional airport located in Medellín, Antioquia, Colombia, near the center of the city.
Olaya Herrera was formerly the main airport serving the City of Medellín and its surrounding areas until the construction of José María Córdova International Airport in the southern suburb of Rionegro, Antioquia, Colombia, located about 7KM (4.3 Miles) from the city center.
Despite no longer having scheduled international flights, Olaya Herrera Airport retained its international status, partly due to the fact that the airport was once the major international airport serving Medellin, but also due to the fact the airport continues to have customs and immigration facilities allowing for charter and private international flights to occur.

The first Liberal president of the twentieth century, Enrique Olaya Herrera (1930-34), was elected at a time when the price of coffee had dropped to about one-third of the 1928 price, loans from United States banks had stopped, and the country was gripped by an economic depression.
Olaya endeavored to hold together the moderate Liberals and the moderate Conservatives, some of whom had worked for his election.
Although Conservative control of the legislature and concern over the economy constrained Olaya's ability to enact a comprehensive Liberal agenda, he succeeded in carrying out some reforms, notably in education.

Rausch does an outstanding job of documenting the political careers of four giant Colombian Liberals.
Presidents' Enrique Olaya Herrera (1930 - 1934), Alfonso Lopez Pumarejo (1934 - 1938) and Alberto Lleras Camango (1958 - 1962) are examined in great detail.
Rausch also does an excellent study of the legendary Colombian populist, Jorge Gaitan who was murdered before he could assume the presidency in 1950.
