  Ensete
The genus Ensete is one of three genera in the Musaceae.
The genus Ensete was first described by Paul (Paulo or Paulus) Fedorowitsch Horaninow (or Horaninov) (1796 - 1865) in his Prodromus Monographiae Scitaminarum of 1862 in which he created a single species, Ensete edule.
However, the genus did not receive general recognition until 1947 when it was revived by E. Cheesman in the first of a series of papers in the Kew Bulletin on the classification of the bananas.

 Ensete ventricosum
Ensete ventricosum is a large, fleshy-stemmed plant with a head of banana-like leaves.
The species name is derived from the Ethiopian name for banana and there are 7 species in the genus, most of which occur in the Old World tropics.
Ensete ventricosum cannot tolerate heavy frost and in these areas it should be planted under big trees in order to protect it or brought inside for the winter if grown in a pot.

THE ROLE OF MUSACAE IN ETHIOPIAN AGRICULTURE I. THE GENUS ENSETE
The genus Ensete, proposed by Horananious in 1862, (Baker and Simmonds, 1953), was further established by Cheesman (1947) as a genus separate from Musa.
The basic chromosome number in Ensete was reported to be 9 whereas that of Musa was observed to be 9, 10, and 11.

 Musella
The plant was first formally named by A. Franchet in 1889 who placed it in the genus Musa, as Musa lasiocarpa, but in a new section he named Musella.
In 1947 Cheesman examined herbarium material at Kew and on the evidence before him commented that "whatever it may be, it is certainly not a Musa sensu strictiore" and was not therefore prepared to separate the plant from Ensete.
Other taxonomists consider the the plant to be an anomaly in both Musa and Ensete and in 1978 C. Wu raised Musella to the status of a separate genus.

I have some Ensete Superbum seeds that I am germinating, I have them in baggies and some are sprouting, I want to know when it is safe for the seedlings to come out of the bags.
I've not grown ensete before, but based on my experience with this type of banana once the seed had sprouted a solid root (1+ inch long) I removed it from the baggy and planted into a pot with moist soil.
I understand the Ensete Superbum are much easier to germinate than other types of banana.
