	Ensiferum - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Ensiferum is a Viking / Folk metal band from Helsinki, Finland.
		Ensiferum was founded in 1995 by Markus Toivonen (guitar), Sauli Savolainen (bass) and Kimmo Miettinen (drums).
		The new Ensiferum line-up entered the studio later that year to record an EP to be called Dragonheads.

		Ensiferum have been around since 1997, released a few demos and two full length albums, but I just recently came across the band.
		Somehow it gives a feeling of things like hope and freedom, and the mostly "happy" and "jolly" riffs, due to their melodicness, are contributing to this mood.
		Ensiferum have since this one released another fullength album (Iron, 2004), which also is very good and absolutely buyworthy but it does not really reach the heights of this formidable masterpiece, and ends up half a point behind.

		meh, no. Ensiferum is pretty much pure folk while Wintersun has a much faster rhythm, and faster guitars and only a little celtic influence here and there.
		I don't think Ensiferum is that folkish.There are certain folk elements in the music, but for example Ferrum aeternum has a kinda western-feeling.

		Jari proved to be a skillfull lyricist and wrote the lyrics on Old Man. The two other songs required no new lyrics for Jari to write, because Markus had done the original lyrics on Knighthood and Sauli to Frost.

		Ensiferum is one of a handful of bands operating under the Viking metal banner, though they aren't as overtly Viking as, say, Einherjer or Thyrfing.

		Jari was of course dissapointed and said that he is tired of playing in a band in which he can't express himself.

		I made few songs to Ensiferum, I did all the lyrics and I did lots of the song arrangements.
